Important Information

We’ve created a checklist of items we suggest to pack to have the best experience in Greece.

MAKE SURE YOUR PASSPORT IS NOT EXPIRING/EXPIRED

  • Passport (REQUIRED)- European Union countries require U.S. passports to have at least 6 months of validity and two blank pages for entry.
  • Electrical adaptor for Europe
  • Comfortable shoes easy to walk on cobblestones
  • Swimsuit, flip flops, snorkel, mask (water shoes are very helpful, most beaches have many stones)
  • Sunscreen/ sun protection
  • Warm Weather clothing
  • Light sweater/ jacket – the reception will be held in the mountains!
  • International phone plan/data roaming (activate in your phone settings) call your provider a couple of days in advance
  • Emergency Contacts
    • European Union Emergency Number: 112
    • Police: 100
    • Medical: 166
    • Fire Department: 199
  • Currency
    • Euro
  • Banks to withdraw/exchange cash
    • National Bank of Greece (Ethniki Trapeza Ellados) *best commission exchange rates*
    • Piraeus Bank (Trapeza Peiraios)
    • Eurobank
    • Alpha Bank
    • Attica Bank

Avoid using the currency exchange kiosks at the airports, and across Greece. Most places operate POS systems and accept all major credit cards, VISA, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS, etc. Avoid using independent ATMs. The banks listed above have the fairest exchange rates. Make sure your debit/credit cards are unlocked for overseas traveling.
